Open Calls for Proposals under the Digital Europe Programme (DEP) to Strengthen Cybersecurity

The European Commission has launched open calls for proposals under the Digital Europe Programme (DEP) in the field of cybersecurity, seeking institutions, companies, and/or research teams to participate in collaborative projects. We would like to highlight the two following calls:


1. PublicPQC (Post-Quantum Cryptography)


Objective:  To support a secure transition to post-quantum cryptography (PQC) within public key infrastructures (PKI), with a focus on secure digital signatures, key management, and certification processes.


Target applicants:

·      Universities and research institutions with expertise in cryptography

·      Cybersecurity/software companies developing PKI systems or encryption tools

·      Certification authorities or entities involved in digital identity management

·      Public institutions responsible for digital infrastructure


Funding: Up to 50% of project costs, with project budgets ranging from €3–4 million.

2. CyberHEALTH


Objective: To support the cybersecurity of hospitals and healthcare services through pilot projects, including planning, training, and awareness-building among staff.


Target applicants:

·      Hospitals and healthcare institutions

·      Cybersecurity companies with experience in the healthcare sector

·      Universities and research institutions with expertise in health technology and/or cybersecurity


Funding: Up to 50% of project costs, with budgets ranging from €3–5 million. Projects must be implemented by at least two different applicants from at least two different countries.

A major step has been taken to strengthen Iceland’s artificial intelligence infrastructure through a new ISK 1.4 billion collaborative project led by Almannarómur in partnership with the University of Iceland, Reykjavík University, University of Iceland Science Park, the Icelandic Meteorological Office, and the Árni Magnússon Institute for Icelandic Studies.
