/

THEODÓR GÍSLASON TECHNICAL MANAGER AND ONE OF THE FOUNDERS OF SYNDIS

podcast number 25

The 19th episode of Auðvarp is dedicated to computer security issues. One of the main security experts in the country, a professional hacker, is the guest of today's show; Theodór Gíslason Director of Technology and one of the founders of Syndis. We get to know Theodor and learn about the reasons why he became a hacker.

A serious accident near Hagaskólinn (an elementary school) in 1994, where he was hit by a bus, had a significant impact on his life and influenced his career choice!

We discuss Iceland's position in computer security matters and why we are classified as a third world country in the security field. What to watch out for and why we haven't had a serious attack, when in fact we've escaped remarkably well, so far.

He envisions that the establishing of EDIH will create an opportunity to change our culture in terms of computer security and that there is an opportunity to locate a hacker center in Iceland. Where we can establish and operate a computer security center that would be attractive to the world's top hackers.

Theodór describes his opinion on the education system and what needs to be improved there. We also discuss the war in Ukraine and what to expect in the field of cyber warfare.
