Is artificial intelligence human intelligence? If not, is it trustworthy, based on ethics, to tackle a task that calls for human intelligence?

Is artificial intelligence a different kind of intelligence, which has advantages over human intelligence, e.g. speed and access to a myriad of information and is it a pure addition to human intelligence?

Do we need AI regulation? We didn't need any regulation on the Internet at the time. Or maybe it was a failure, we should have set rules for the Internet. Would we then have been able to avert all kinds of storms that are affecting us now, such as fake news? Unwanted influence of social media and so on.
